Scott Boardman Elected to Union Mutual Board of Directors

Scott Boardman was elected to the Board of Directors of the Union Mutual Fire Insurance Company and the New England Guaranty Insurance Company at the Companies’ annual meetings held on March 15, 2023.

 “We are very pleased to add Scott’s insight and expertise to our Board,” Union Mutual Board Chair Kathy Davis said. “He has a wealth of business and industry experience that will continue to strengthen our Board.”

Boardman retired in February after 40+ years with the Hickok & Boardman Insurance Group where he held the positions of Property and Casualty Agent, Vice President, Executive Vice President and then Chief Operating Officer. In 1994, Scott was elected President and CEO and in 2021, he assumed the sole role of CEO.

Scott is a graduate of Holy Cross College where he received a B.A. in Economics in 1982. He holds his designation as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter. He is a member and past-President of the Vermont Chapter of CPCU, as well as a past-President of the Vermont Insurance Agents Association  (VIAA). Scott currently serves as a director of A.N. Deringer, and PC Construction Company. He is married to Carol Boardman and they have four grown children. 

Union Mutual of Vermont Companies, founded in 1874, is a property casualty insurance group consisting of Union Mutual Fire Insurance and New England Guaranty Insurance Company Inc., both based in Montpelier, Vermont; and Community Mutual Insurance Company, based in Latham, New York. The Companies write a total of $212 million in direct premium annually through independent agents throughout New England and New York, and are all rated A (Excellent) with a Stable Outlook by A.M. Best.
