At the above date and time, the Montpelier Police Department received reports of an individual walking in and out of the roadway on Main Street. Officers located the involved party nearby and determined they were intoxicated. They continued to walk in the roadway, obstructing traffic in our officers’ presence, and other persons in the area reported an assault by the involved party. It was determined they had court ordered conditions of release prohibiting the consumption of alcohol and engaging in violent, threatening, or tumultuous behavior. While being taken into custody, they bit an MPD officer and resisted arrest, in addition to damaging the camera equipment inside our police vehicle. Due to the nature of the incident, Washington County Mental Health Services was consulted.

Our investigation revealed probable cause that a 31-year-old female from Montpelier had committed the crime(s) of Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Violation of Conditions of Release, Simple Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Unlawful Mischief.

These informational posts are made in the interest of general transparency and community awareness of MPD activities. For more information about any specific incident or police activity, please contact us at (802) 223-3445.
